Residency and tour 2025

HOLY WEEK

A week-long residency of eight international creators and a participatory performance tour through four countries on Central European Easter traditions.

HOLY WEEK is a project of PAIKKA, a Budapest-based platform for impermanent collectives working at the intersection of art and science, run by the I.T.E.M. Foundation.

In 2025 PAIKKA hosted eight creators – ethnomusicologists, performers and artists from Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Palestine, Ukraine and Taiwan – to research pagan, religious and secular traditions related to Easter in Central Europe.

From a week-long residency in Hungary emerged a participatory, multisensory performance, rooted in the seasonal energy of spring and the impulse to renew. Over the Easter holidays it toured four countries, conjuring a temporary community through collective actions: spring cleaning, shared meals, sound-making and tactile encounters.
